WHO IS NAIIVE ?

I'm a French illustrator specializing in linocut printmaking, and I arrange my prints like philosophical tales or poems in which nature is a breadcrumb trail.

Le temps fait le yo-yo par ici ! 🌧️☀️ J’avance sur mes lotus. La gravure est terminée mais je suis encore dans les tests d’impression. Je voulais tenter deux couleurs, rouge et noir, sur un papier très texturé. Le résultat n’est pas à la hauteur. L’encre rouge s’étale très mal et le papier texturé donne un effet un peu flouté. Tous les linograveurs savent qu’il y a deux journées types : le jour où tout roule comme sur des roulettes, et le jour où l’univers te dit d’aller te recoucher. Bref, je vais continuer d’expérimenter jusqu’à sortir un tirage à la hauteur 🤞

I’m currently working on my lotus. The carving is finished but I’m still doing some printing tests. I wanted to try two colours, red and black, on a beautiful, highly textured paper that I’ve never used before. The result didn’t live up to my expectations. The red ink spreads very badly and the textured paper gives a slightly blurred effect. All linocut artists know that there are two typical days: the day when everything runs like a well-oiled machine, and the day when the universe tells you to go back to bed. Anyway, I’m going to keep experimenting until I come up with a print that’s up to scratch.

Quick question for people who speak English around here: do you say « it’s yo-yoing » when you’re talking about erratic weather?
